Pilling Jubilee Silver Band

Band News December 2016

Last month's activities have been entirely concerned with Seasonal events. The concert in Goosnargh was well received though the attendance could have been better, probably so many things going on at this time of year. As well as several private functions we have attended Trinity Hospice to play at their "Light up a Life" service when the magnificent tree lights are switched on. This year it was a fine evening so many people turned up for this moving ceremony. The traditional carol services at Stalmine, Out Rawcliffe and Hambleton ended our busy time, though MD Len Charnock has kept up with rehearsals in preparation for the upcoming contest in Preston at the end of January.

President Jim Redman has asked me to include the following item:

We have received notification from Jigsaw Community Playgroup that they are closing the playgroup at the end of December 2016 having been (very happily) our tenants for well over 20 years. It appears that there are quite a number of playgroups closing but in our case the loss of their rental income will make a serious dent in our finances.

The Bandroom situated off Field House Lane Pilling has excellent facilities and plenty of car parking available, and could well be used on a regular basis for meetings or other activities. The Band rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday evenings but any other times are available.

Full details will be published in the Focus from February 2017 onwards but if you would like to register an interest now please contact either of our Trustees:

Our rental terms will be available for discussion with interested people or groups on application.

Thank you, and a Happy New Year to all our supporters.
